Episode 31 - The Rudeness

INT.  FOYER.  FRANK IS SUPERVISING THE DELIVERY OF THE PIANO.  EDWARD AND KIRANA ENTER.

FRANK
Good morning Mr Drummond.  Is the meeting already over?

EDWARD
I wouldn’t know.  I have only just arrived.

FRANK
Oh.  In that case, everyone is already up in the boardroom.

EDWARD
Is that the C7 I insisted upon?

FRANK
Yes sir.  It has posed us a few problems as the staging wasn’t designed for a piano this size, but River and I sorted it out in the end.

EDWARD
(to Kirana) I can’t believe that little know it all thought a baby grand would be suitable for this occasion.

KIRANA
Oh, I’m sure it would have Ed.  There really isn’t anything in the music that requires the gravitas of anything larger.

EDWARD
The event itself required the gravitas!

FRANK
Well your wife and Mr Bannister didn’t seem to think it was a problem.

EDWARD
Colonial upstarts who know nothing.

FRANK
Uh, yes, well, the problem is all sorted now.  We have the C7, and it will be tuned shortly and then we are all good to go.

EDWARD
Good.  Just make sure it is ready by the time the meeting ends.  Flora and I will be rehearsing here afterwards.

FRANK
I am sorry Mr Drummond.  I was not advised of this and the staging has not yet been fully secured.  It won’t be usable for a couple of hours yet I am afraid.

EDWARD
Then get it ready!

FRANK
I am sorry sir, but we are doing the best we can.  It will not be safe to rehearse on until after lunch.

EDWARD
Do you understand who I am?

KIRANA
Ed, we are not really ready for the stage yet anyway.  It would be better for us to work in a rehearsal space.  Flora hasn’t even done any work with us and she will probably feel more comfortable in a more private space.

EDWARD
(Glaring at Kirana) You presume too much, my dear.  (to Frank) What is your name?

FRANK
Frank.  Frank Medcalf.  I am the Technical Manager here.

EDWARD
Well, that may not last as long as you think...Fred.

FRANK
Frank.

EDWARD
Well, Francis, I am going to the meeting now.  We shall see what your job title is in an hour, shall we?  In the meantime, make sure Kirana has what she needs for the performance.

FRANK
Yes sir.

END.

JO BOYD TAKES OVER THE ROLE OF KIRANA

In 2019 the role of Kirana has been taken over by Jo Boyd as we sadly had to say goodbye to Gabrielle Reiher at Christmas. Gabrielle has gone on to focus on other exciting opportunities. You may remember Jo from filling in the role of Ruby Drummond when Maree Shefford was a bit poorly. When we realised we needed a new Kirana we didn't have to look far at all. Welcome to the team Jo!!!

Jo Boyd is playing the role of Kirana
Jo is a mother, a grandmother and a small business owner and also really enjoys modelling and creative photography. She has a real passion for acting which has steered her toward film and podcasting and in all of this she relishes a good challenge! Jo's films include The Last Hope, To Love Somebody, Dark Night of the Zomboogies, Blue, Faberge Black, and The Faceless Man. She is currently filming Of Course God Is Italian. Jo also featured in the music video Which Witch is Which. Jo would love to take on more featured speaking roles and extras work.
