Meet Flora Drummond

FLORA DRUMMOND

Flors is 15 years old and selfobsessed and extremely willful.  She is Ruby's youngest child and Edwards only daughter.  She is the apple of her dad's eye and has ben indulged and pampered by him since her birth.  Anything she has ever wanted he has acquired for her and he has allowed her to do anything she pleased her entire life.

Flora's attitude to her mother is one of contempt and dismissal, mirroring that of her father.  Flora sees Ruby as an irritating piece of furniture and the occasional rival for her father's attentions.  Flora does not bother to hide her disrespect and her father never requires it of her.  He contradicts any discipline Ruby attempts to impose and encourages Flora in her poor behavior towards her mother.

Flora does not know her half brother and sister well.  They were kept away at boarding school, and when they did come home for visits as adults her father would take her away on holidays.

Flora was never sent to boarding school.  She was kept at home and home schooled.  She has developed a sense of owning the whole world, and her friends are more interested in the free ride of indulgence they get from pandering to her, than any sense of care about her welfare.  Underneath she is a very longely girl.  Her father led her homeschooling and as a result she has not developed any sense of focus or application and she does poorly in her exams.  Flora has no intention of continuing her education past the minimum required.

Flora sees this new theatrical venture as her big break.  She has stars in her eyes and has decided that she will instantly be an amazing actress and will become a famous Hollywood starlet by the end of the year.  Then she can ditch schooling and her family and live a life of fame and glamour and be known by everyone.

Episode 26 - The Remonstration

INT.  BACK STAGE.  RIVER AND FRANK ARE GOING OVER THE SCHEDULE FOR THE NEXT DAY.
RIVER Yes, Frank, that should work.  I nearly had a heart attack when the supplier rang and gave me the final dimensions!
FRANK No stress, Miss Drummond.  Every problem has a solution.
RIVER (laughing)  Frank, we are going to be working together quite intimately for a long time to come, so I think you can start calling me River.
FRANK Thanks River.  I wasn’t sure.  What, with you being the boss’s daughter and all.
RIVER When we are here at Dramaticus I am the Head Stage Manager, not Ruby’s daughter.  You are the Technical Manager and we are going to have to develop a strong working relationship in order to make this theatre work.  We can’t do that if I am putting on airs and graces, or if you think you can’t speak opening and honestly with me without fear of repercussions.
FRANK That is true.  I am very relieved to hear you say that.
RIVER Look, it’s getting late and there is not much more we can do today.  How about…
