Episode 5 - The Consoling

INT.  DRUMMOND HOUSE.

FLORA
How dare Michael kick me out of the showcase!  What right does he have to do that?  This is your company, not his.

EDWARD
I know sweetling, I know.  Don’t your worry your pretty head.  He won’t get away with it.  I won’t let him.

FLORA
But what are you going to do?  And did you see Brick and Sienna ganging up on me.  Brick is supposed to be on my side too.  I’m his half sister.  That is more important than a mere cousin.  A poor one too!

EDWARD
Yes.  I think it is important that Michael understands his place right from the start.  His annoying daughters too.  We can’t have cripples and headcases running this company.  I won’t stand for it!

FLORA
I don’t understand why you let it happen.  You should have stopped it.

EDWARD
It wasn’t the right time sweetling.  I need to speak to your mother in private about this.  There are a few things we need to get sorted out before we go too much further along.

FLORA
You shouldn’t let her boss you around like that.  You are the man, you are in charge.  Why is she the CEO anyway?  It should be you.

EDWARD
Well, yes, from one perspective that is true.  I don’t really like all that business malarkey though.  Ruby is much better at it.  Besides I want to be an actor and have my gorgeous and talented daughter on stage at my side.  I am much more a front man kind of person.  I am much more effective in the spotlight.  I will be the ‘face’ of the company so to speak.

FLORA
Just you?

EDWARD
Oh no, sweetling.  You and I.  Michael thinks he is the drawcard, but we will show him.

FLORA
Hmph.  And just how will we do that?  You and I aren’t even part of the launch anymore.  We will just be standing on the sidelines looking on, when it is our money paying for it all.

EDWARD
Yes.  Ruby seems to have forgotten that when she married me, what was hers became mine.  I think it is time I reminded her.

FLORA
When Ruby got this idea she said it was for us, but now we are being pushed to the sidelines.  It’s not fair!

EDWARD
Don’t you worry.  I will sort this out.  The launch will be all about us, not Michael and his brats, and certainly not about that arrogant upstart stepson of mine.

FLORA
Okay.  So what do we do.

EDWARD
Firstly, I want you to start calling Ruby ‘Mum’ for the next few days, and try and be nice to her.

FLORA
No.

EDWARD
Yes, Flora.  You know she always falls for that and we want to make sure she is not expecting anything unplanned to happen.  In the meantime, I will go in and speak to her.  I need to remind her of her place and mine.

END.

JO BOYD TAKES OVER THE ROLE OF KIRANA

In 2019 the role of Kirana has been taken over by Jo Boyd as we sadly had to say goodbye to Gabrielle Reiher at Christmas. Gabrielle has gone on to focus on other exciting opportunities. You may remember Jo from filling in the role of Ruby Drummond when Maree Shefford was a bit poorly. When we realised we needed a new Kirana we didn't have to look far at all. Welcome to the team Jo!!!

Jo Boyd is playing the role of Kirana
Jo is a mother, a grandmother and a small business owner and also really enjoys modelling and creative photography. She has a real passion for acting which has steered her toward film and podcasting and in all of this she relishes a good challenge! Jo's films include The Last Hope, To Love Somebody, Dark Night of the Zomboogies, Blue, Faberge Black, and The Faceless Man. She is currently filming Of Course God Is Italian. Jo also featured in the music video Which Witch is Which. Jo would love to take on more featured speaking roles and extras work.
